About
Ammonites are a type of fossil that have been around for hundreds of millions of years. The spiral shape symbolizes continual change and evolution. They exist in myriad shapes, sizes, colors and are all singular and beautiful like children. Years ago, our founder Susanne Crawford was in Tibet and was randomly presented with an ammonite from an elderly stranger. The moment was profoundly beautiful and inspired her to begin collecting ammonites. On the exact same day in June, twenty years later, while enjoying a serene moment in nature near a river, she looked down and found her first ammonite fossil, very similar to the one from Tibet. The symbolism inspired her change and growth and led her to embark on her own new adventure of developing the school. When contemplating a name for the school, there was no question that The Ammonite School was perfect because of what they represent: perpetual growth, individuality, radiating goodness, nature, peace, beauty and learning. We believe that children deserve a unique education that honors their individuality, and like ammonites; they are ever-developing, precious and singular in nature.
